Our life is not exactly a bed of roses. There are times when challenges like unemployment, relationship issues, health conditions, pandemic problems, finances, and the loss of loved ones bring us down. In times like these, emotional stability and inner peace of mind don’t come to us easily.
Suruchi Shah, A Life Coach, and counsellor work towards helping people overcome these life barriers and become the best version of themselves. Having one’s peace of mind in tough times is important. Suruchi shares a few tips to cultivate inner peace of mind.
—Accept the situation
The main battle is in our minds. We need to understand what we are feeling and move beyond these emotions to accept the situation. Acceptance will make us feel like in charge of the situation. Hence, we won’t waste our time and energy in fighting with the problem.
—Have faith in yourself
Have unshakable faith in yourself. Reflect on the challenges you have faced earlier in life, and how you have overcome them. Maintain a daily victory log, each time you achieve anything, big or small, note it in the victory log and read that log when you doubt yourself.
—Situations never remain the same
Change is the only constant in life. Remember what you are going through right now is only a phase and not an indication of your entire life. The road ahead will offer you a new path with different experiences. Life never remains the same and this too shall pass.
—Surround yourself with positive people
Spend time with people who make you feel good about yourself. Open your heart to people who care about you. Share your pain with them. Find a loved one, a friend, counselor/coach, or somebody supports and helps you in restoring your peace of mind.
— Try relaxation techniques
Do things that help you relax your mind and release stress. Whatever works out the best for you. Be it long walks, music, yoga, meditation, dance, or going for a swim.
